Two Films on the Festival Circuit & New Work with The Arboretum San Antonio
It’s been an exciting season as two recent film projects continue their journeys through the festival circuit.
My documentary Rooted In Legacy: The Arboretum Journey has been connecting with audiences and juries alike. The film has received Best Documentary awards at both the Sacred Underground Film Festival and the Seguin Film Arts Festival, where it also received the festival’s Bronze Pecan Award. The film was also named a Semi-Finalist at the Dubai Independent Film Festival. It’s been incredibly meaningful to see this story about stewardship, land, and community resonate beyond San Antonio.
Another project currently on the festival circuit is the horror short Transmute, which I wrote and produced with my good friend and frequent collaborator Valerie Garza directing. The film has already received recognition at both the Horrorific Women’s Film Festival and the San Antonio Fear Film Festival. The next screening will take place April 4th at the San Antonio Horror Film Festival.
Outside of the festival circuit, I continue my work with Arboretum San Antonio as the organization’s Visual Storyteller, helping document its growth and community programming. The next event I’ll be covering will be ArBird Day Fiesta on Sunday, April 26th, the Arboretum’s first celebration dedicated to trees, birds, and everything in between.
It’s been a rewarding time of storytelling, collaboration, and community engagement, and I’m grateful to everyone who continues to support these projects. More updates soon as the festival season continues.
